Michigan Initiative Praised as Model for Other Communities

A local initiative to get children out in nature is going so well that it could be a model for other communities, says the president and CEO of the worldwide Children & Nature Network. Cheryl Charles, who co-founded the network in 2006, spoke Thursday to community leaders and participants in the local No Child Left Inside initiative. That initiative, one of 72 in the nation, was announced in September 2008 by the Kalamazoo Nature Center but has since grown to include many community partners. It is funded by a three-year W.K.
