Maryland Governor Releases Children in Nature Action Plan

Governor Martin O’Malley of Maryland recently released the state's Children in Nature Action Plan for 2010, which outlines measures the state is currently undertaking to advance environmental literacy and a connection with nature among Maryland’s young people. TogetherGreen, a five-year alliance between Audubon and Toyota, recently awarded a total of $1.1 million in TogetherGreen Innovation Grants to facilitate people-powered conservation action across the country. Dutch Researchers Link Green Spaces to Better Health

There is more evidence that living near a green space has health benefits, the BBC reports. Researchers from Amsterdam studying the health records of 350,000 people found that those living near green areas were 21 percent less likely to suffer from depression.
